Covering 200 hectares of land and water, Docklands is the newest Melbourne suburb offering a range of entertainment, waterfront restaurants and shops, residential, technology and business uses. Located on prime waterfront land adjacent to main transport networks, the central city and industrial areas, Docklands will provide research, education, marina and sporting uses and will house significant public space infrastructure. Docklands is expected to change the look and feel of Melbourne. It is planned to be a waterfront destination for an estimated 20 million visitors each year, workplace for 20,000 people and home to 20,000. The continued development is also projected to create approximately 3,000 construction and permanent jobs each year.
